एक आदमी गुब्बारे बेच कर जीवन-यापन करता था |वह गाँव के आस-पास लगने वाली बाजारों में जाता और गुब्बारे बेचता| बच्चों को लुभाने के लिए वह तरह-तरह के गुब्बारे रखता …लाल, पीले, हरे, नीले…. वेसे तो उसके सब गुब्बारे रोज बिक जाते थे..और जब कभी उसे लगता की बिक्री कम हो रही है वह झट से एक गुब्बारा हवा में छोड़ देता, जिसे उड़ता देखकर बच्चे खुश हो जाते और गुब्बारे खरीदने के लिए पहुँच जाते|
इसी तरह एक दिन वह एक मोहल्ले में गुब्बारे बेच रहा था और बिक्री बढाने के लिए बीच-बीच में गुब्बारा उड़ा रहा था | पास ही खड़ा एक छोटा बच्चा ये सब बड़ी जिज्ञासा के साथ देख रहा था| इस बार जैसे ही गुब्बारे वाले ने एक सफ़ेद गुब्बारा उड़ाया वह तुरंत उसके पास पहुंचा और मासूमियत से बोला, ” अगर आप ये पीला वाला गुब्बारा छोड़ेंगे…तो क्या वो भी ऊपर जाएगा ?”
गुब्बारा वाले ने थोड़े अचरज के साथ उसे देखा और बोला, ” हाँ बिलकुल जाएगा बेटे ! में तुम्हे पीला गुब्बारा उड़ाके दिखाता हु और ऐसा कहेके उसने गुब्बारा उड़ाया | गुब्बारे का ऊपर जाना इस बात पर नहीं निर्भर करता है कि वो किस रंग का है बल्कि इसपर निर्भर करता है कि उसके अन्दर क्या है|”
बच्चा उसकी बात से समज गया की गुब्बारा उसके अंदर की हवा से उड गया , ना कि उसके रंग की वजह से। और बच्चा एक गुब्बारा ले के खुश हो के वहा से गया |
